Senior Land Use Planner

The City of Attleboro seeks a Senior Land Use Planner who, under the direction of the Director of Planning and Development, assists in the preparation and implementation of plans and strategies related to physical development of the City.
Duties include conducting research and technical reports such as demographic analyses, land use analyses and fiscal impact analyses in the preparation and update of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Open Space and Recreation planning, Capital Improvements Program, economic development, downtown revitalization, and other related land use projects. Prepares zoning ordinances. Reviews site plans to determine conformance with established regulations. Provides technical assistance and professional advice to the Planning Board and Zoning Board on subdivisions and zoning applications. Prepares staff reports to Planning and Zoning Boards. Reviews and approves advertisements for Planning and Zoning Boards. Reviews and approves building permits for compliance with zoning and planning regulations. Coordinates with other City departments on review of applications. Performs related work as required.
Master’s degree in urban or regional planning or related field and two years’ experience in a planning office or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have through knowledge of local planning principles and techniques. Must have through knowledge of zoning and subdivision state statutes. Ability to interpret regulations accurately. Ability to conduct independent research. Strong writing and interpersonal skills required. Grant writing, computer and GIS skills required. This position requires daily interaction with the public.
