Planning Professional Wanted to Teach at URI
URI's Landscape Architecture Program is looking for a Planning professional interested in joining our department as a Lecturer on a limited-term contract (one year, with the possibility of extension). We are hoping to have someone to be onboard for the online certificate position for the fall semester (starting maybe mid-August).

We are excited to launch our first fully online Community Planning (CPL) graduate certificate program in Fall 2025 and seek a qualified individual to support this important initiative!

The Lecturer would be responsible for teaching two 7-week, asynchronous graduate-level courses during both the Fall and Spring semesters. Course assignments will include:

CPL 501: Introduction to Community Planning
CPL 538: Site Planning
CPL 585: Environmental Planning
CPL 550: Urban Design

Most of the course content will be pre-developed. However, there will be opportunities to refine the curriculum, record brief introductory videos, and actively engage with students through discussion boards and grading assignments and projects.

In addition to teaching, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to support promotional efforts for the new program and contribute to shaping the future of the CPL graduate curriculum at URI.

This position can be conducted remotely or in person. To ensure quality and consistency in our online offerings, all instructors are required to complete URI’s online teaching module focused on best practices for asynchronous courses.
