Chapter Committees
Chapter Committees
APA RI establishes committees to address specific needs within the chapter. Examples include:
- SNEAPA Committee – this is established every three years when the Southern New England APA Conference is hosted in Rhode Island. Note that as long as SNEAPA is held virtually, it will be managed by a tri-state committee. APA RI's SNEAPA committee will be re-established the next time SNEAPA is able to be held in person again - hopefully in fall of 2021.
- Awards Committee – this is established for a brief period every fall to review applications for Chapter awards. Contact awards@rhodeislandapa.org if you’re interested in joining this committee.
- Legislative Committee – this group works with the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns to propose, monitor, and advocate for good planning legislation. Members are asked to read and craft responses to legislative proposals. Also, members will have the opportunity to testify before the State Legislature. Contact policy@rhodeislandapa.org if you’re interested in helping with this work.
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee – this committee works toward a future of more just and equitable communities that enable opportunity, quality of life, and a sense of belonging for all Rhode Island residents and visitors, supported by a more diverse planning profession. Visit the EDI Page for more information amd if you're interested in joining this committee.
