Chapter Committees

Chapter Committees

APA RI establishes committees to address specific needs within the chapter:

SNEAPA Committee – this is established every three years when the Southern New England APA (SNEAPA) Conference is hosted in Rhode Island. APA-RI's SNEAPA committee will start meeting soon to prepare for SNEAPA 2025 in Newport, RI on November 6-7!

Awards Committee – this is established for a brief period every fall to review applications for Chapter awards. Contact awards@rhodeislandapa.org if you’re interested in joining this committee.

Legislative Committee – this group works with the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns to propose, monitor, and advocate for good planning legislation. Members are asked to read and craft responses to legislative proposals. Also, members will have the opportunity to testify before the State Legislature. Contact aparhodeisland at gmail dot com if you’re interested in helping with this work.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee – this committee works toward a future of more just and equitable communities that enable opportunity, quality of life, and a sense of belonging for all Rhode Island residents and visitors, supported by a more diverse planning profession. Visit the EDI Page for more information and if you're interested in joining this committee.

Emerging Planners Group – this new committee is a networking and social group for young RI planners in the beginning of their career. Join to share challenges and ideas, make new friends, and learn from other young planners!
